TRN support for Grenfell – planned consultation

TRN, following a number of contacts and discussions with mental health clinicians in various agencies over the summer, have found the picture somewhat confusing and contradictory. It is evident that there are several agendas in play and that the situation is highly political, and not always in the best interest of those most in need. As a result, we cannot make an objective recommendation as to the best way to deploy the available funding based upon this research.

The money raised by the wonderful 24Stories project to support people affected by Grenfell has to be spent to best effect and we are committed to that principle. As such, we are proposing to use TRN funds (not those raised by 24Stories) to undertake an on-the-ground consultation using independent clinicians to work with the Grenfell community to agree how best to deploy a package of support.

We are looking to establish a therapist panel within the next 2-3 weeks and start the consultation process later in September. The results will be published by the end of October at which point the agreed programme will be launched.
